When you’re on the verge of going digital with your business, we know your company’s Facebook account and its assets might be a low priority on your list. Nonetheless, in order to have everything ready for your online advertising campaigns, setting up the Facebook Business Manager account is a must.
You and your company will have full control over the data in the account and the ability to control the access level of digital agencies you work with.
From our experience, this is the safest solution for you, to make sure that you’ll maintain all the data collected, regardless of the digital marketing provider. As a best practice, it’s better if you create all the Facebook assets in the Facebook Business Manager yourself, and then you share access with anyone that might need it.
We recommend you go through each of the following steps, in the order listed below, to make sure this process goes as fast and as smoothly as possible.
1. Creating the Facebook Business Manager account
The e-mail address you use to create the Facebook Business Manager needs to be a valid e-mail, associated with your Facebook Profile.
Steps (1) Go to business.facebook.com & click on “Create new account” > (2) Fill in the requested fields > You’re done!

2. The page
The Facebook page has to be created in advance. You can create one from your account and leave it “unpublished”.
Steps (1) Go to Business Settings > (2) Select “Pages” under “Accounts” menu in the left panel > (3) Press “Add” > (4) Find the page you own by typing its name and select it > You’re done!
3. The Facebook pixel
1 pixel per business is enough to start with, as you want to track all the data from the entire store in one place.
Steps (1) Go to “Pixels” under “Data Sources” menu in the left panel > (2) Press “Add” and name the pixel (you can use the default name being generated) > (3) Press “Create” > You’re done!

4. The catalog
If you own a multi-language webshop, then you should create a product catalog for each store view that you want to run dynamic ads for.
Steps (1) Go to “Catalogs” under “Data Sources” menu in the left panel > (2) Press “Add” and “Create a new catalog” > (3) Give it a name and select its type > You’re done!

5. The advertising account
If you have regional offices, with different ad budgets and currencies, then you need to create different ad accounts and add several credit card details for each such region. Still, if possible, our recommendation is to keep only 1 ad account with 1 payment source.
Steps (1) Go to “Ad accounts” under “Accounts” menu in the left panel > (2) Press “Add” and “Create a new ad account” > (3) Give it a name and select the appropriate currency and time zone > (4) Press “Create ad account” > You’re done!

5.1 Adding the credit card details
Steps (1) Go to Business Manager menu and select “Settings” > (2) Select the ad account > (3) Select the “Payment Settings” menu > (4) Click the “Add payment method” button > (5) Add your credit card details and press “Continue” > You’re done!

5.2 Associating the Pixel with the ad account
Steps (1) Go to “Pixels” under “Data sources” menu in the left panel > (2) Select the Pixel > Select “Ad accounts” > (3) Press “Assign ad account” > (4) Select the ad account you created previously and press “Save changes” > You’re done!

6. Granting access to your Facebook assets
6.1 To employees
We recommend adding your employees by their personal e-mail addresses, which they use on their Facebook profile, as it will prevent them from having to create a duplicate profile.
Steps (1) Go to “People” under “Users” menu in the left panel > (2) Press “Add” and add the e-mail addresses you need > You’re done!

6.2 To agencies or other 3rd parties
The digital agency needs to communicate to you their Business ID first.
Steps (1) Go to “Partners” under “Users” menu in the left panel > (2) press “Add” > (3) Copy here the Business ID that the agency gave to you > (4) Start assigning all the assets you created based on this article > (5) When you’re finished, press “Assign assets” > You’re done!
